Jason Grenier - President (2009 - Present)

Jason Grenier received the Bachelor's and Master's of Applied Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2003 and 2006, respectively. During this time, Jason acquired two years of industry work experience including internships at Cypress Semiconductor, Nortel Networks, and Photonics Research Ontario. Jason is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Photonics Group in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto. His present research interest is using femtosecond laser technology to control and harvest laser interactions to expand the frontiers of three-dimensional micro and nanofabrication for novel lab-on-a-fiber application. Jason has been awarded NSERC and OGS post-graduate scholarship s and has recently won awards from the SPIE, the Canadian Institute for Photonics Innovation and the Ontario Centres of Excellence. He is the founding President of the University of Toronto SPIE Student Chapter and a member of the, OSA, and IEEE Photonics Society.

Luis Fernandes - Secretary (2010 - Present)

Luís Fernandes received a degree in Applied Physics from Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto in 2006. In 2007 he was awarded a research grant to work at INESC Porto on micromachining and microfabrication.
In May 2008 he started his Ph.D degree at Universidade do Porto, working together with the Photonics Group in the University of Toronto in femtosecond direct laser writing of integrated devices. In 2010 Luís was awarded a SPIE Scholarship in Optical Science and Engineering and he received a Student Award for best oral presentations in the SPIE Photonics West conference the same year.
Luís Fernandes is a Ph.D. fellowship holder from the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, and he is a member of the SPF, SPIE, OSA, and IEEE Photonics Society. He is also a member of the board of the University of Toronto SPIE Student Chapter.

Kyle Cheng - Treasurer (2010 - Present)

I have been being an active researcher for over 5 years biomedical imaging and photonics. My experience covers magnetic resonance imaging, nonlinear fiber optics, optical coherence tomography and intravascular optical coherence tomography. I also have extensive experience in animal imaging studies, particularly with rats and pigs.
