ChipCare has closed a $5.045 million Series A financing

ChipCare Corporation, a University of Toronto start-up company commercializing a handheld, blood-testing platform for HIV and other infectious and non-communicable diseases has closed a $5.045 million Series A financing to bring its first-generation product to market while further developing the platform's next generation products.

Huawei Canada is our new research partner

We have started working on a research collaboration with Huawei Canada to analyze the sorurces of loss and crosstalks at silicon waveguide crossings. The project is financially supported by NSERC through its Engage grant.

Professor Aitchison elected to Royal Society of Edinburgh

Professor Aitchison has been elected as a Corresponding Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE). Established in 1783, the RSE is Scotland’s national academy of science and letters. Of more than 1600 RSE Fellows, there are only 76 Corresponding Fellows, the title conferred upon Fellows who are not resident in the UK.

Alam wins Colton award

Postdoctoral fellow Muhammad Alam recieved the Douglas R. Colton Medal from the Canadian Microfabrication Corporation (CMC)  for his work on hybrid plasmonic waveguide.


ChipCare receives one of Canada’s largest ever angel investments

ChipCare Corporation, a start-up company co-founded by Stewart Aitchison and James Dou of the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, has secured one of the largest-ever angel investments in Canada’s healthcare sector. Phase II financing closed today, with an investment of $2.05 million to support ChipCare’s continuing development and commercialization of its unique handheld blood analyzer over the next three years.
